BP 401(k) Model Allocations – Q1/2021

Attention BP Employees,

Capstone Wealth Advisors is pleased to release our Q1/2021 model allocations for your BP 401(k).  This quarter’s allocations have changed substantially from last quarter and we highly recommend you update your portfolio to match our recommendations.

The most notable changes within the allocations are the reintroduction of several asset classes that struggled for most of 2020, but now are showing more promise as economic and political situations have changed. Those areas are International, Emerging Markets, Small-Cap and Mid-Cap stocks. Throughout 2020, we held little to none of these asset classes due to a multitude of factors. As we look at 2021, the changes in economic circumstances globally have now brought opportunities in these areas.

Recent positive economic data along with the help of government assistance (stimulus) and vaccines being made available are helping to push equity markets higher. There is some concern that increasing levels of COVID cases across America will lead to further lockdowns over the next few months, however expectations are that restrictions on businesses will eventually begin to relax – helping put our economy on a more solid footing.  If you would like to learn more about our current economic forecast, please visit our “2020/2021 Outlook on the Markets Mid-Year Winter Issue”, published December 2020.

For our clients, your investment portfolios we manage already reflect our investment philosophies and should we see a change in circumstances, we proactively implement portfolio changes as part of our investment process.

Please keep in mind that we do not make changes to your BP 401(k), that is something you will need to do. If you would like assistance with updating your 401(k), please do not hesitate to contact us and we can walk you through the steps. Updating your asset allocation is easy to do and can be done in just a few minutes.
